Well that was quick, wasn't it?... Pop darling Hilary Duff seems to be wasting no time now that she has revitalized her music career following a seven year absence. Though she released a brand new single, "Chasing The Sun", just last month, the gorgeous blonde is now fast tracking a second, slightly more folky, single in hopes of achieving the radio success she has always been denied.
"
All About You", penned by the writers of huge hits for the likes of Adam Lambert, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, N'Sync and Britney Spears, is an uptempo, guitar-driven, pop track that seems to be taking the artist's new sound in a different direction than her previous effort. With an infectious hook, upbeat production, and vocals which come off sounding like a hybrid of Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne, the song should have no problem finding an audience.
Definitely more upbeat and poppy than the laidback, cheeky vibe of "Chasing The Sun", the newly released "
All About You" is the perfect comeback track Duff needed to return to the spotlight where she rightfully belongs. The artist described the song as having a "Mumford-y" feel and that inspiration can definitely be heard with the supporting background banjo and adult contemporary influence. "
You could be my dirty little secret, I can be yours, we could only be a rumor, never be sure," she chants on the opening of the slightly promiscuous love song.
When compared to the previous release, "
All About You" is definitely a serious improvement and a sure fire stomper of a song that is literally screaming for radio attention. The smooth, bright, catchy production, interesting combination of genre influences and Duff's warm personality create the right recipe for a pop smash. The first "official" single, apparently "Chasing The Sun" is now considered a buzz track, is a more mature, infectious, country/folk/pop experiment that works for the artist.
"
All About You" is off Duff's upcoming fifth studio album set to be released under RCA Records this fall.
