President Muhammadu Buhari swearing-in ceremony on the 29th of May 2015, may have come and gone, but the memories of that epoch making event will always remain entrenched in the memories of Nigerians.
Buhari’s ascendancy to the position of Nigeria’s no 1 citizen served as a defining moment for Nigeria’s young democracy as it was the first time an incumbent would lose a presidential election as well as the first time a ruling party would hand over power to the opposition in a keenly contested election without controversy or rancour.
But while many Nigerians were focused on the inauguration proper and all the trappings of the event televised live to a global audience, some group of young Nigerians were on the sidelines of the event, making sure that the event made it to the Guinness World Book of Records.
The group under the name, Ecole de Dessin, decided to invite young Nigerians to articulate their needs and concerns for Nigeria into a letter with the title – LETTER TO MR PRESIDENT – NIGERIAN DREAM that will be forwarded to President Buhari.

The group took advantage of micro-blogging site, Twitter to publicise the project using the hashtag #LettertoMrPresident.
With this initiative, the group had plans to put Nigeria on the world map through an attempt aimed at appearing in the renowned Guiness World Book of Records for the longest letter written to a president. Also on the list of the group is to make the world’s largest envelope and the world’s largest post stamp; a commemorative stamp in celebration of the inauguration of the president.
The #LettertoMrPresident project s expected to go round Nigeria’s 36 states of the federation climaxing in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja where it will be displayed for residents in these states to append their demands to the letter and become part of this historic moment.
There are also plan for the Nigerian diasporan community to fully partake in the project. The project has since received the blessings of President Buhari’s media aide, Alhaji Garba Shehu.
Meanwhile, one of the trekkers for President Buhari have been declared missing. Nurudeen Maimako, a resident of Dass town in Bauchi State, left his town on May 15 to Abuja, but has not been seen since then.
