Don't blink or you'll miss it!

I was on the phone with L from Sleeping Cougar Acres yesterday morning. She was telling me that things had changed since I had been there on Thursday. I didn't think there could be much of a change, so I decided to stop by and have a peek. She wasn't kidding. I couldn't believe the difference 4 days had made.

A baby butternut squash had sprouted.

A cucumber had appeared where there was no cucumber before.

A row of pea plants had sprouted where there was but one pea plant on Thursday.
Bean plants had started to appear. There was nothing but soil here last week.

A row of corn had popped up to join the single plant from Thursday.

After cruising the veggie patches we walked through the vineyard. There were exciting changes there too. Plants that were grape-free on Thursday sported wee bunches of grapes, and grape leaves that were just beginning to unfurl last week had almost doubled in size.

I think it's safe to say we all are familiar with the development of plants. Even if we don't garden ourselves we all learned about it in school, but I have to tell you, it's so much more satisfying to witness this process in person. I'm fortunate that L lets me play a small role in life on her farm.
